ALBANY, Ore. - Five teens face assault charges in what the victim told police was an unprovoked attack.
Albany police interviewed the 20-year-old man at Samaritan Albany General Hospital. He had suffered serious injuries to his face and told police the attack was unprovoked.
On Thursday afternoon, Albany Police Detectives contacted 19-year-old Albany resident, Zachery Mendoza, and 18-year old Josiah O’Malley at separate locations in Albany.
Mendoza and O’Malley were arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd degree and Assault in the 3rd degree and taken to the Linn County Jail.
On Friday morning, Albany Police Detectives and School Resource Officers contacted 2 additional suspects, a 15-year-old juvenile male and a 16-year-old juvenile male, both from Albany.
Both juveniles were arrested and charged with Assault in the 2nd degree and Assault in the 3rd degree and taken to the Linn-Benton Detention facility.
On Friday afternoon, a 15-year-old juvenile female turned herself in to Albany police detectives. The juvenile, an Albany resident, was charged with Assault III and taken to the Linn-Benton Detention facility.
Albany Police Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
