Albany duo accused of counterfeiting $100 bills
News

DALLAS, Ore. (AP) — Two Albany men are jailed in Polk County, accused of passing counterfeit $100 bills at the Spirit Mountain Casino at Grand Ronde.

The sheriff's office says Secret Service agents from Portland are helping investigate the case that began Tuesday when the counterfeit bills were discovered at the casino.

A Polk County deputy stopped the two men after they left the parking lot. Investigators say they had passed $1,700 worth of the phony bills at the casino and had more in their possession, in their car and where they were staying.

Deputies and Secret Service agents served a search warrant at an Albany address and seized printers and computers as evidence. The sheriff's office says hard drives removed from computers had been burned in a wood stove.
